Reading this guide is highly recommended before entering the world of DayZ. After reading this mod we recommend reading the GPortal DayZ Mod Guide. The survival guide is listed in a step-by-step format from your first few days to your last
Survival Guide
1. Players start with a wooden sword and a bottle of water
2. Have your wooden sword equipped and your water in your hotbar
TIP: If you drink water, be sure to fill it up right away
4. Survey the land before making any steps
5. When you are ready to explore, walk around and keep looking around
6. There are various structures, roads, and villages that may catch your eye as you are traveling
7. Head towards anything that looks like a structure mentioned above
8. Chests are usually hidden inside of a structure
9. After you have a good supply of food and water, head to a village
10. In a village you will find at least 2 chests
TIP: Villages are the best source of supplies but are also dangerous as there may be other players hiding there
11. All chests on the map refresh after 20 minutes
12. Camp the villages until you find good armor and a good weapon
13. After you are prepared, fight zombies to gain more money
14. If you wish, you may even hunt down other players
15. Survive as long as possible
16. Die. Rinse. Repeat.
This guide is only easy if you get lucky and find a chest with supplies in it. If you can not find a village or chest you must keep looking for one. Without supplies you will die.
